The Minnesota College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MCAOM) is the largest and oldest school in the state of Minnesota offering master's degree programs accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Founded in 1990 as the Minnesota Institute of Acupuncture and Herbal Studies, MCAOM has established itself in the Twin Cities area as a premier provider of education and clinical services in acupuncture and Oriental medicine.
The master's degree programs in acupuncture and Oriental medicine emphasize the unified understanding of the mind, body and spirit inherent in traditional Chinese medicine. MCAOM has gathered a multi-national faculty committed to academic and professional excellence and to teaching the extensive body of knowledge and skills necessary for safe and effective practice. Our graduates have the education and skills necessary to develop a successful practice based on their own personal style.
MCAOM is a college of Northwestern Health Sciences University, which has been an international leader for more than six decades in natural health care, scientific research, and patient care. We offer prospective students a wide array of choices in natural health care education in the United States, with programs in chiropractic, acupuncture, Oriental medicine, massage therapy, and integrative health and wellness. The small enrollment of less than 1,000 students allows the University to provide our students with the individual attention and access to educational resources that they require to succeed.
LOCATION
Northwestern Health Sciences University is located in Bloomington, Minnesota, the largest suburb of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. The beautifully-landscaped 25-acre campus wraps around a small lake and includes 230,000 square feet of state-of-the art-laboratories, classrooms and clinics.
FACILITIES
The facilities at Northwestern include a 600-seat auditorium, a 10,000-square-foot library, gym, pool, fitness center, bookstore and student lounge.
Northwestern has pioneered an extraordinary and unique clinical system, with a University public clinic system, more than 150 community-based private-practice clinics, and final term preceptorship opportunities around the world. The University's clinic system records more than 65,000 patient visits a year, making Northwestern the largest provider of natural health care services in Minnesota. MCAOM student interns provide acupuncture and Oriental medicine services in the Edith Davis Teaching Clinic on the University campus, as well as health care clinics and community agencies throughout the metropolitan area.
